The Connection Between Numerology and Astrology

Numerology is the science of numbers and their characteristics and associations. This article presents the basics of numerology. There are three key numbers in your life. The number of your birth day, the number of your birth date, and the number of your name. These three numbers, and the energies they represent, will have significant correlation with your personality.
NUMBERS OF YOUR BIRTH DAY AND BIRTH DATE
BIRTH DAY NUMBER: To get the number of your birth day, just add the numbers of your birthday together until you get a single number.
Example: Monica Wallach, born 9/15/1962. Birth day number -- 15=6
Example: Leslie Robinson, born 12/29/1957. Birth day number -- 29=11=2
BIRTH DATE NUMBER: To get the number of your birth date, add the end numbers of the month, day and year together.
Example: Monica Wallach, born 9/15/1962
month = 9 day = 1+5=6 year = 1+9+6+2=18=9
9+6+9=24 =6
Example: Leslie Robinson, born 12/29/1957
month = 1+2=3 day = 2+9=11 year = 1+9+5+7=22
3+11+22=36=9
(Note, Leslie gives us an example of what is known as the Rule of 11 and 22. These numbers are reduced only when determining a final number.)
THE NUMBERS OF NAMES AND WORDS
Words carry vibrational energy. Whenever a word is spoken, it resonates at a certain frequency, much like a note in a musical scale. We can "see" these vibrations by translating words into their numerical equivalents. One of the most powerful words in each of our lives is our name. Your given name, and the name you currently use, are both important. Use the following table to calculate the numerical value of any word.

THE MEANING OF THE NUMBERS 1-10
Each number represents an archetypal energy within the universe. These energy signatures are profiled below:
1 -- Strength and will-power. People who have the number one as a key number tend to have a strong sense of self-direction. They dislike criticism or restraints. They are aggressive, self-focused, like to be in charge, and can be somewhat dictatorial.

2 -- Emotional, sensitive, and imaginative. People who have the number two as a key number are often very concerned with matters of home, family, and mothering. They need a sense of security and safety, and can be cautious and shy. They operate more from their feelings than from their logic.

3 -- Expansiveness, optimism, and idealism. People who have the number three as a key number tend to be philosophical and metaphysical. They like to travel and see other cultures. Higher education, especially in the liberal arts, interests them. Anything that expands their horizons is likely to be of interest. Often, they enjoy parties and are very social. They have a jovial and optimistic outlook.

4 -- Uniqueness, independence, and individuality. People who resonant with the number four enjoy change and welcome new ideas. They are the future-thinkers and prophets. Sometimes, they can be stubborn and only see their own point of view. Their friendships are very important to them. They are usually hard workers, and tend to live in their imaginations of the future.

5 -- Communication and intellectual curiosity. People who have the number five as a key number have great mental agility and love to talk. Their intellectual interests range far and wide. They are natural teachers, speakers, and writers. They love variety, freedom, and travel. They may have a tendency to be high strung, with a great deal of nervous energy.

6 -- Love and relationships. When six is a key number, love relationships will occupy much of a person’s time. They are natural diplomats and want other people to feel comfortable. They cannot stand discord or disharmony and many times will sacrifice their own needs and wants in order to "keep the peace." Often, they will have artistic ability, with an innate sense of taste and refinement. They are romantic, and enjoy the luxuries of life.

7 -- Spirituality and intuition. People who resonant with the number seven are psychic, sensitive, mystical, and other-worldly. They are attracted to the "unreal" realms and often long to escape this physical world and go into a more spiritual existence. Hence, they are prone to addictions and alcoholism. There is a quality of suffering and sacrifice about their lives. Often, they are attracted to the ocean and may have a rich dream life.

8 -- Ambition and achievement. When eight is the key number, a person is concerned with their position and power. They tend to do well in the business world, as they are reliable, hard-working and practical. They have a strong desire for success and recognition. On the positive side, they can be wise, patient and responsible, while on the negative they can be cold, undemonstrative, and lonely.

9 -- Action and impulsiveness. People who have nine as a key number are courageous, determined, and direct. They have a tendency to "leap before they look". They don't play games and have no problem with endings and letting go. They tend to be self-focused and may, for that reason, be loners.

Now that you have all the information, you can put your numbers together with their meanings. Note that as you change your name throughout your life, your numerical energy signature changes. Men often change from a casual version of their given name to a more formal one as they mature and enter the business world, for example, "Billy" to "William" or "Eddie" to "Edward". Many women, of course, change their names when they marry. It is interesting to analyze the various names, including nicknames, you have used in your life. As your name changed, so did the numerical energy sent out as it was spoken.
This is a very rudimentary introduction to the science of numerology. Like astrology, numerology has incredible depth and complexity. So, this article is designed just to wet your appetite.
